A Hitchhiker’s Guide To Evangelism (Part 2)

I learn a lot from other churches.

Elevation Church in Charlotte, NC is one of those churches that always has something to teach me.

If you are unfamiliar with Elevation, the church began on February 5, 2006 under the leadership of founding pastor Steven Furtick. Originally the church began with 8 families. The first Sunday they had 121 show up for worship. Today Elevation Church is the 2nd fastest growing church in the United States with over 5,000 in worship each week (in their 3 locations across the Charlotte area).

Recently the pastor of Elevation Church, Steven Furtick shared some thoughts on how their church does evangelism.

            Here’s what he wrote:

How Church Growth Happens At Elevation Church

We enable experiences and interactions that leave our people saying:
I love my church

So they’ll tell their friends:
You’ve got to come check out my church

The friends come.
We worship Jesus and preach the Gospel with excellence.

The friends leave saying:
I really like this church

Inspiring them to come back again and again until they say:
I love my church

And tell their friends:
You’ve got to come check out my church…

When I think of natural evangelism, the type Bill Tenny-Brittian writes about in his book “The Hitchhiker’s Guide To Evangelism” I think of Elevation Church. They are doing something right and I can learn a lot from them!

We’ll explore this more in the posts to come.

In the meantime, pick up a copy of “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to Evangelism” and check it out yourself.
